Domains:

A domain is the web address that you type into your browser to visit a website. These names are chosen by you like this:

http://www.yourname.com

A domain can be purchased if the name is still available, it needs to be registered for each year you wish to keep it. A domain is set up and hosted on it's own web space, a domain is for one website, Enter the domain name you already own or one that you would like to register.

Subdomains:

These are also web address but are attached to an existing domain name, our domain name is 1pagedesign.com. A subdomain would be like this:

http://www.yourname.1pagedesign.com
or
http://www.1pagedesign.com/yourname

So it would be http://www.1pagedesign.com/ then your chosen name at the beginning or end. Using a subdomain you can have one domain name and have unlimited websites. You can also use subdomains to break your website up into sections for a store, forum, tools or anything you need.

http://www.tools.yourname.com

Enter the subdomain name you want to use as in the example above http://www.1pagedesign.com/ goes first then your chosen name. It is usually desirable to keep it short.
